Two champions, two weeks, one extraordinary fortnight
The 2026 Wimbledon Championships produced two first-rate finals and two worthy champions. On Saturday 12 July, Linda Noskova, 21, became the first Czech woman to win a Grand Slam in an all-Czech final, defeating Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-3 after squandering five match points in the second set. On Sunday 13 July, Jannik Sinner successfully defended his men's title by beating Alexander Zverev 6-7(7), 7-6(2), 6-3, 6-4 in three hours and forty-six minutes to claim his fifth Grand Slam and become only the tenth man in Open Era history to defend the Wimbledon crown. Centre Court delivered something close to its best.

Czech women have now won the Wimbledon singles title more times in the last four years (three: Vondrouskova 2023, Krejcikova 2024, Noskova 2026) than any other nation in that span. The lineage runs from Navratilova through Novotna, Kvitova twice, Krejcikova, and now Noskova. The 2026 final was the first ever between two Czech women at any Grand Slam.
