Where this stands on 26 August

Someone with a real playable build of Grand Theft Auto VI has been dripping it out for nine days. The clips arrive roughly daily under the name CyberLeek, watermarked with a memecoin ticker, and each one shows a piece of the game before Rockstar has shown it. Take-Two's lawyers moved on 21 August. Rockstar itself has said nothing about the leak, and instead premieres a 45-minute Extended Look on Netflix on 27 August, six hours before it reaches YouTube. This page tracks the sequence and dates every claim. It's updated once a day.

Every leak, in order18.08.2026 – 04.09.2026
18.08.2026It starts. Two Jason Duval clips: basketball outside a waterside house, then a drive ending in a brawl. Plus an image claimed to be the full Leonida map.
18.08.2026
18.08.2026A $CYBERLEEK memecoin launches on Solana the same day, and its ticker is watermarked onto the footage.
18.08.2026
18.08.2026A manifesto follows. The grievance: all-digital releases, revoked purchases, no physical disc for GTA 6. Other publishers get threatened too.
18.08.2026
19.08.2026Jason tasers a security guard, with a short Cal Hampton cutscene attached. A second clip shows a drug called Zombix.
19.08.2026
19.08.2026More map images name Dalton Island, Tequesta Retreat, Gloriana Key and Catalan Key.
19.08.2026
20.08.2026Two minutes flying a prop plane over Vice City, radio dial included. Jason shoots the word LEEK into a wall.
20.08.2026
20.08.2026That wall is the proof. Reporting stops saying stolen footage and starts saying playable build.
20.08.2026
20.08.2026The drops become a market. Memecoin holders get a vote on which clip comes next, under a watermark reading HIGHER MARKET CAP = MORE LEEKS.
20.08.2026
21.08.2026A Thrax hypercar run through Vice City. CyberLeek opens a contact page quoting a 400 XMR fee and a channel of claimed Rockstar legal documents.
21.08.2026
21.08.2026Take-Two files DMCA subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord for account data and server logs. Bloomberg: Rockstar still has no idea who the leaker is.
21.08.2026
22.08.2026A New York federal judge approves the subpoenas. Xbox CTO Scott Van Vliet says Microsoft is helping protect creative works and intellectual property.
22.08.2026
22.08.2026Jason robs a run of gas stations and walks into the Delights strip club.
22.08.2026
23.08.2026Inside Delights: dancers, NPC crowd behaviour, a restroom cutscene. Coverage shifts here from map analysis to spoiler warnings.
23.08.2026
24.08.2026A Wasted death sequence after a truck explosion, then a night flight over Vice City showing traffic density, the airport and the radio stations.
24.08.2026
25.08.2026Four in one day. A nudist colony, the NINE1NINE nightclub over several floors, a dusk beach ride, and a strip-mall game shop.
25.08.2026
25.08.2026The game shop is the point. Its shelves carry physical discs and a parody console, the JoySystem 8.
25.08.2026
25.08.2026The leaker frames that clip around ownership in a digital-only era. The protest and the memecoin sit in the same frame.
25.08.2026
27.08.2026Scheduled. Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres on Netflix at 21:00 CET, then hits Rockstar's YouTube six hours later.
27.08.2026
04.09.2026Scheduled. Microsoft and Discord's deadline to produce records to Take-Two.
04.09.2026

What's established here, and what's only claimed. Established: the clips exist, they show unreleased GTA VI material, Take-Two filed subpoenas on 21 August and a judge approved them on 22 August. Claimed and unverified: that the map image is the final map, that the build is from 2025, that the leaked legal documents are genuine, and every word of CyberLeek's stated motive. A leaker running a memecoin has every reason to make the haul sound bigger.

"

No physical discs? Then more leeks.

"

the stated grievance behind the leaks

The part that isn't about GTA

The protest and the business model sit awkwardly together. CyberLeek's manifesto attacks digital-only publishing, and the same watermark promises more footage as the market cap goes up. Holders vote on what leaks next. The contact page quotes a price. Whatever the motive is, the mechanism is a speculative token that pays out in other people's unreleased work, and that's the genuinely new thing here. The 2022 GTA 6 leak was a teenager and a Rockstar Slack. This one has a treasury.

What to watch next

Three dates decide how this ends. 27 August, when Rockstar takes the story back with the Extended Look. 4 September, when Microsoft and Discord have to produce records. 19 November, when the game ships and the leaks stop mattering. If CyberLeek is named before that, it will most likely come out of the Discord logs rather than the crypto trail.
