Sirimon to Point Lenana
The Sirimon Route is the most popular ascent up Mount Kenya, climbing through montane forest and giant lobelia moorland to Point Lenana at 4985m, the trekkers' summit. A 4 to 5 day traverse with gentler gradients than the Naro Moru side, it rewards patient acclimatisation with a sunrise from Africa's second highest peak.
Park fees and a licensed guide are mandatory through Kenya Wildlife Service, and the driest, clearest windows are January to February and July to October. Budget a minimum of four nights to acclimatise, descend via Chogoria for the lake views.
