The Jordan Trail

A 650 km north to south thru hike across the entire country, linking Umm Qais near the Sea of Galilee with the Red Sea at Aqaba via Petra and the desert of Wadi Rum. The shown segment is one section of the full route, which threads together olive groves, Crusader castles, Bedouin camps and Nabataean ruins over roughly 40 trekking days.

Hike in March to May or September to November, the summer months south of the Dead Sea are dangerous and water sources dry up. Many sections cross private and tribal land, so use the Jordan Trail Association maps, arrange village homestays in advance and consider a local guide for the Dana to Petra and Wadi Rum segments.
