The Annapurna Circuit
A 15 to 20 day loop through the Nepalese Himalaya, crossing the Thorong La pass at 5,416 metres between rhododendron forests, terraced villages and the high Tibetan plateau. Long considered one of the great long distance treks on Earth, it weaves through eight climate zones in a single arc.
Walk anticlockwise from Besisahar so you acclimatise gradually before Thorong La, and budget at least two rest days near Manang to avoid altitude sickness. TIMS card and ACAP permit are mandatory and must be bought in Kathmandu or Pokhara before you start.
