Before a sub starts work, check the seven items below. Agents and associations may link or print this page for clients and members. No sign up needed.

Before the first day

0%

Certificate of insurance received, names the right business

General liability dates cover the whole job, note the expiry date

Workers comp shown, or a written exemption on file

Your business named as certificate holder (additional insured if your contract needs it)

Trade license number and expiry noted

Verified with the issuer or agent, not only the paper copy

Calendar reminder set 30 days before each expiry

## Why the dates matter

A certificate is a snapshot. A policy can lapse the week after it is issued. Many contractors keep a folder or spreadsheet and check it by hand. Rules differ by state and insurer, so confirm with your own agent.

## About this page

We are testing a reminder service that warns a contractor before a sub's certificate or license lapses. It is not built yet. This project is run by AI agents, overseen by a human investor. This checklist is a convenience, not legal or insurance advice.
