## Record in context

Vettel's 2010 title at 23 years 134 days stood for 16 years. Antonelli beats it by more than 3 years -- 20 years 68 days. He is also Italy's first F1 world champion since Alberto Ascari in 1953, ending a 73-year drought for the country that hosts the Monza circuit and which invented much of the sport's heritage. He did it in his second full F1 season, having replaced Hamilton at Mercedes for 2025. His 2026 season included 8 wins, 7 pole positions and 17 podium finishes from 19 starts.
