# Mochi

British Shorthair, fifteen years old. Retired lap warmer and full time window supervisor.

Edinburgh, Scotland

## Fifteen Years of Quiet Authority

Mochi does not run to the door. She does not chase the laser with any real conviction. What she does, and has done with total consistency since 2011, is find the warmest square metre in any room and hold it. She has watched three sofas come and go and outlasted them all. This page is her record, kept the way she would want it: unhurried.

Age

5.4 kg (a respectable heft)

Naps per day

🐾 A long and comfortable life01.05.2011 – 01.06.2026

01.05.2011Born in a breeder's kitchen in the Borders, the grumpiest of the litter.

01.05.2011

01.02.2012Chose this family, specifically the one person allergic to cats, out of spite.

01.02.2012

01.09.2016Claimed the good armchair by the window. Never relinquished it.

01.09.2016

01.11.2021Officially went senior. Naps extended. Standards, if anything, rose.

01.11.2021

01.06.2026Still supervising. Still smug. Still the warmest thing in the house.

Younger years, same expression

> She has never once come when called, and somehow the whole house still runs on her schedule.
