[x] Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat. Two-time MVP traded from   Milwaukee with Bobby Portis for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr.,   Kasparas Jakucionis, and a haul of future draft picks.
[x] Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers. Five-time All-Star and 2024 Finals   MVP traded from Boston for Paul George, one 2028 first-rounder, a 2031   unprotected first, and two second-round picks.
[x] LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Charlotte ships LaMelo and Josh   Green for Naz Reid, three first-round pick swaps, and three second-round picks.
[x] Ja Morant to the Portland Trail Blazers. Memphis continues its rebuild,   receiving Jerami Grant and Kris Murray in return. The Grizzlies have now   traded Bane, Jackson Jr., and Morant inside 12 months.
[x] Donovan Mitchell stays in Cleveland. The Cavaliers lock up Mitchell on a   four-year, 273 million dollar maximum extension.
[x] Austin Reaves re-signs with the Lakers. Declines his 14.9 million dollar   option and signs a new four-year, 185 million dollar deal with Los Angeles.
[ ] LeBron James. Still uncommitted. The Timberwolves are ramping up pursuit.   The 76ers, Cavaliers, Heat, and Nuggets are all on Rich Paul's whiteboard.   Decision expected before the end of July.
[ ] Kawhi Leonard to Toronto (pending). The Clippers agreed to send Leonard   back to the Raptors, but the deal is on hold while the NBA investigates   allegations the Clippers paid Leonard impermissible benefits.

The East has been remade in eleven days
When the New York Knicks defeated the San Antonio Spurs in five games to win the franchise's first championship in 53 years, no one predicted that within two weeks the Eastern Conference power structure would be torn apart and rebuilt. Giannis joining Bam Adebayo in Miami. Jaylen Brown replacing Paul George in Philadelphia alongside Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. The Celtics, having lost Brown, acquired Mitchell Robinson from the champion Knicks and brought in Paul George as their new co-star. Five of the eight Eastern Conference playoff teams last season now have meaningfully different rosters heading into 2026-27.

The LeBron decision hanging over everything. At 41, James is being pursued by contenders across both conferences. His agent Rich Paul confirmed the Knicks would have been his destination had they not already won the title. The Timberwolves, who just added LaMelo Ball and are reportedly meeting with James this week, represent the most intriguing wildcard in years. Jokic, LaMelo, and LeBron on one roster is not an idle fantasy.

Kawhi Leonard in limbo. The NBA opened a formal investigation into the LA Clippers over allegations the franchise paid Leonard impermissible benefits during his 2019 free agency decision. Until the probe concludes, his agreed trade to Toronto is frozen. Leonard has not played a full season since 2020-21.
