The Balcony of Appenzell
Hoher Kasten sits at the far eastern end of the Alpstein with a rotating restaurant and one of the widest views in the region. The walk to Stauberen runs along the ridge with the Rhine valley far below, Liechtenstein and the Austrian Vorarlberg laid out to the east and the rest of the Alpstein stretching west. A revolving cable car brings you up from Brülisau, so the hike itself stays gentle.


:NOTE
Ride the cable car from Brülisau up to Hoher Kasten, then walk the ridge to Stauberen and back. The Brülisau valley station has a large car park and a PostAuto stop.
