## The Wayfarer's Path

The Sentiero del Viandante is an ancient Roman trade route that traces the eastern shore of Lake Como, perched on the hillsides above the water with sweeping views across to the Grigne and the lake villages below. Walkers pass through chestnut woods, terraced vineyards, stone hamlets and medieval churches that have served travellers for centuries. The full path stretches roughly 45 km from Abbadia Lariana to Piantedo and is typically split into four manageable day stages.

Spring and autumn are ideal since summer on the lake gets hot and hazy, and the parallel railway along the shore makes it easy to split the route into day hikes and train back to your base.
