The High Sierra Traverse
A 340 km thru hike linking Yosemite Valley to the summit of Mount Whitney, threading the highest, wildest spine of the Sierra Nevada past granite basins, alpine lakes, and a dozen passes above 3500 metres. The OSM section shown here is one segment of the full route, which most hikers walk in two to three weeks.


:NOTE
A wilderness permit with a Donohue exit quota is required and is hotly contested in the February lottery. Plan resupplies at Red's Meadow, Muir Trail Ranch, and over Kearsarge Pass, and carry a bear canister the entire length.
