The Chained Ridge
Zion's most exposed hike, finishing along a narrow sandstone spine with chains for handholds and 400 metre drops on both sides. Walter's Wiggles switchback up the wall, then the ridge delivers one of the most photographed summit views in the American Southwest.

A permit is required for the chained section and is allocated by seasonal and day-before lottery. Avoid in wet, snowy, or windy conditions, and skip it entirely if you are uneasy with heights.
