## The Story

A father and his son walk south through the ash of a destroyed America. They have a cart, a pistol, and one another. Cormac McCarthy won the Pulitzer Prize for this novel in 2007. 287 pages.

McCarthy wrote The Road after visiting El Paso with his young son and imagining the city on fire. The image of a boy walking through ash stayed with him.

Won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2007. Oprah chose it for her book club. The 2009 film starred Viggo Mortensen.
