What you get

Slates

A page you own, living at slatesource.com/@you/your-page. No theme, no build step, no hosting bill.

Chips

Typed blocks that make up a page: Info, Gallery, Map, Link and more. Try them in the Playground.

Files on GitHub

A slate is a .slate file plus one .chext file per page. Connect a repo or read the chext spec.

How a migration works

1

Send the address of the site, plus anything worth knowing about it.

2

The pages get rebuilt as slates by hand. No scraper, no importer, no half-converted layout.

3

They appear on your home page ready to claim. Claiming makes you the author: edit them, build on them, or delete them.

4

Optional: the same pages also arrive as files in a repo. Claimed slates stay editable here; connect the repo instead and your files become the source of truth.

FAQ

What does it cost?

Nothing. Migrations are done by hand, so the queue moves at the pace of one pair of hands.

Does my old site have to come down?

No. Nothing is touched on your side. The rebuild happens here, and you decide what to do with the original.

Who owns the result?

You do, once you claim it. The slates move to your account and your address, and the files stay yours in your own repo.
