Founded by William the Conqueror around 1078, the Tower of London has served as fortress, palace, prison and place of execution. Edward V and his brother Richard vanish in the Tower. Two small skeletons are later found beneath a White Tower staircase.
Henry VIII's second queen is executed on Tower Green and buried in the Chapel of St Peter ad Vincula.
A soldier is reported to have challenged a headless figure near the queen's lodgings and collapsed in fright.
Yeoman Warders and visitors continue to report cold spots, footsteps and fleeting figures.
