The Neptunian Gaussian Auctions
One absurd item a day goes under the gavel. You bid what you think it is worth, sealed, and nobody sees the number but you. Then the gavel falls and the crowd price is revealed. The crowd price is the median.

Lightning Bolt, Slightly Bent
Why this exists
The hard part is not working out what a leash-trained asteroid is worth. Nothing here is worth anything. The currency is imaginary and nothing is ever shipped. The hard part is guessing what everyone else will say it is worth, which is Keynes' beauty contest with better props. The crowd price is the median rather than the average, on purpose. One person bidding nine million for a jar of fog should not get to move the price for everyone else. The gap between the mean and the median is the whole joke.
