The five-title club has existed since 1991, when Miguel Indurain joined it. Before 2026 the other members were Jacques Anquetil (1957, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964), Eddy Merckx (1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1974), and Bernard Hinault (1978, 1979, 1981, 1982, 1985). Each of them is considered one of the greatest cyclists who ever lived. Pogacar is now among them, at an age when the others had barely begun.
2026 race notes. The Tour started in Barcelona for the first time, covering 3,321 km with 54,450 m of climbing. Vingegaard crashed out on Stage 15 with a fractured collarbone while 4:30 behind Pogacar. Florian Lipowitz also crashed out in Stage 16.
