The Turquoise Eye
Oeschinensee is a UNESCO listed lake of impossible turquoise, trapped at the foot of the Bluemlisalp and its hanging glaciers above Kandersteg. The panorama trail climbs above the shore for the high angle, the colour deepening as you gain height, before looping back down to the waterline. It is one of the most concentrated alpine scenes in Switzerland and busy for good reason.
A gondola from Kandersteg saves the first climb. From the top station it is a short walk to the lake before the panorama loop begins.
