Ibex and a Lake View
The Niederhorn ridge above Beatenberg is one of the best places in Switzerland to walk among ibex, which graze the slopes unbothered by hikers. The grassy crest runs above Lake Thun with the whole Bernese Oberland skyline, Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau, lined up across the water. A funicular and cable car carry you up from the lakeside, so the ridge stays the focus.
Reach the Niederhorn by funicular from Beatenbucht on Lake Thun then a cable car. The ibex are most active and approachable in the early morning.
