The High Lakes Plateau
Melchsee-Frutt is a car free mountain village on a high plateau strung with lakes, easy walking country at nearly 1900 metres with the Titlis and the central Swiss peaks all around. The loop links Melchsee, the small blue Blausee and Tannensee on broad gentle paths, the kind of high alpine scenery that usually demands a hard climb but here arrives by gondola. Boats and a chapel sit on the main lake.
A gondola climbs to Frutt from Stockalp near Kerns. The plateau is gentle enough for families and stays walkable from late spring.
