Into the Cirque

The Creux de Champ is a great natural amphitheatre gouged out of the Diablerets massif, a horseshoe of high rock walls with waterfalls pouring off the lip from the glaciers above. The walk from the village of Les Diablerets follows the valley floor into the heart of the cirque, the cliffs rising higher with every step and the falls growing louder, until the path ends beneath the headwall in a basin of spray and meltwater.

Start from Les Diablerets village. The waterfalls run strongest in early summer as the snow melts off the high glaciers above the cirque.
