"Kelly Ortberg (Boeing CEO) in the Q3 release
Defense, Space and Security grew revenue 15 percent to $7.94 billion and earned $492 million, helped by a $252 million gain on the HRL Laboratories sale. Global Services earned $1.02 billion on $5.57 billion of revenue. Commercial Airplanes revenue fell 3 percent to $10.72 billion with a $697 million operating loss, which Boeing blames on delivery mix, production rate adjustment costs and supply chain costs.
The 737-7 received amended type certification from the FAA, and the 737-10 followed in October. Boeing says the 737 program continues to progress toward stable production of 47 per month, and the 787 remains at 8 per month. The 777-9 is in certification flight testing and Boeing says first delivery remains on track for 2027. Boeing booked 300 net orders, including Turkish Airlines, Ethiopian Airlines and Lufthansa. Operating cash flow included about $0.7 billion of Department of Justice settlement payments.
The press release gives no new financial outlook, and we found no dates for the 737 production rate increase. The US Navy F/A-XX fighter selection is not in backlog while the source selection review finishes, so its value is unknown. We have not heard the earnings call, so any comment from executives on rates, tariffs or cash is missing here. Estimates differ by provider, so check which loss figure (GAAP or core) a source quotes.
