The final quarter of 2026 lands six games that actually matter, spread across October, November and December. Each one is confirmed, dated, and priced. If you only have time and budget for a few, the verdicts below tell you which console to pick up each for and whether you can wait for a deal. As of October 6, 2026.

The Coalition and People Can Fly went back to the very first day of the Locust invasion, fourteen years before the original Gears of War, to show a younger Marcus Fenix overwhelmed and outgunned. Unreal Engine 5, two-player split-screen, four-player online co-op, and a twelve-player Horde Siege mode. It runs at 4K and 60 fps. The thing that matters most here: it is on Game Pass from day one. If you already pay for Game Pass Ultimate, this costs you nothing. It is also the first Gears title to ship simultaneously on Steam without a delay. For action fans with Xbox hardware or a capable PC, it is the easiest yes of the season.
Set on the Korean Peninsula, with Mads Mikkelsen as the antagonist. The campaign launches a week early for pre-order buyers on October 16. It is the first mainline Call of Duty to skip day-one Game Pass since Microsoft completed its Activision acquisition in 2023, which makes it the surprise value story of the season: pay $69.99 or wait. The game also marks the first time Call of Duty has shipped on a Nintendo console since Ghosts on Wii U in 2013, thirteen years ago.
S-GAME moved this from its original September 9 date to October 29 to avoid shipping a version that needed post-launch patches. The extra seven weeks appear to have worked: previews describe a tight, fast action RPG built around a corrupted assassin with 66 days to live. Donnie Yen handled motion capture for the character Mó Yuan. It is a PS5 and PC exclusive, with no Xbox or Switch 2 version announced. If you are on PlayStation, this is the sleeper pick of October.
Nintendo confirmed this at the 40th Anniversary Zelda Direct on September 8. It is a ground-up rebuild of the 1998 Nintendo 64 original, not a resolution bump: producer Eiji Aonuma showed a free-moving camera, a jump button, fully voiced cutscenes, and a Breath of the Wild item scroll. The Switch 2 Joy-Con microphone lets you hum the ocarina melodies rather than press buttons to play them. At $59.99 digital and $69.99 physical, it costs less than most new releases this season. The dedicated Switch 2 Ocarina bundle launches a week earlier, on October 29, for those who want the matching hardware.
Rockstar delayed it from fall 2025, then from May 2026, and it finally lands November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S. The setting is Leonida, a reimagined Florida state, with Vice City as its main city. The standard edition is $79.99, the Ultimate Edition $99.99. Pre-orders opened June 25; digital preload begins November 12. There is no PC release date. Rockstar has not announced one, and the pattern from GTA 5 suggests a gap of at least six months. If you are a PC-only player, this is one to follow rather than buy in November.
The first new mainline Layton game in thirteen years, developed with puzzle questions from Japanese quiz team QuizKnock, which the studio says makes this the largest puzzle collection in franchise history. Set in a technologically advanced American frontier town called Steam Bison, where Luke Triton has become more celebrated than the professor himself. The Switch 2 version supports mouse controls for puzzle-solving. It ships on PS5, Switch 2, Switch, and PC. At $59.99 it is the most affordable major release of the quarter, and the broadest platform list means almost anyone can play it.
