The Novel I Finished and Could Not Recommend to Everyone

The Troop is the most physically disturbing novel I have finished. Nick Cutter puts a group of Boy Scouts on an island in the Canadian wilderness and introduces a stranger who is infected with a parasite engineered to consume its host. The horror is biological and specific and it does not look away. I finished it in two days and told exactly zero people to read it because the content is not for every reader. I am telling you so you can make that decision yourself.

There is no redemptive arc here. This book is content to unsettle you and leave.

Recommending this to exactly one person I know and not to anyone else because the content requires a specific kind of reader to find it worthwhile.

This book has graphic content involving harm to children and animals. That is not a spoiler. That is something to know before you decide to read it.
