Community Repair Cafe

A repair cafe is a free community event where volunteers fix electronics, clothing, bicycles, and furniture together. It diverts waste, builds skills, and connects neighbors.

10Fixers

30Items

Organize the Event

Find a host venue: library, community center, or church hall. Set a date and recruit fixers with skills in electronics, sewing, bicycle mechanics, and general repair. Three hours minimum per session.

Gather the Tools

Each fixer brings their own tools. The cafe provides shared basics: screwdriver sets, soldering iron, sewing machine, and a basic bicycle stand. A parts bin of common screws and connectors saves many repairs.

Promote the Event

Post flyers at the library, hardware store, and community board. Create a Facebook event and post to Nextdoor. Partner with the local sustainability group or zero-waste network for amplification.
