3Species
60to 90 Days
Substrate Preparation
Use hardwood sawdust supplemented with wheat bran at 10 to 20 percent by weight. Sterilize in polypropylene bags at 15 PSI for 2.5 hours. Allow to cool to room temperature before inoculating.
Inoculation
Work in a still air box or flow hood. Inoculate with grain spawn at 10 to 20 percent by weight. Seal bags and incubate at 21 to 24 degrees Celsius in the dark until fully colonized.
Harvest and Drying
Harvest lion's mane before spines elongate. Harvest reishi when the edge whitening stops. Dry at 50 degrees Celsius in a food dehydrator until completely dry. Store in airtight jars with desiccant.
Grow Cycle Checklist
Substrate sterilized and cooled
Inoculation done in clean conditions
Colonization complete before fruiting
Humidity maintained during fruiting (80 to 95 percent)
Harvest timed correctly for each species
Dried and stored in airtight containers
Turkey tail is the easiest of the three to grow and the most forgiving. Start with turkey tail if you are new to mushroom cultivation before moving to lion's mane or reishi.
