Two Readers, One Book, Very Different Experiences
I am a romance reader. My partner is a fantasy reader. We both read Fourth Wing at the same time because we could not agree on whose turn it was to pick the book. What followed was one of the more interesting reading discussions we have had. I thought the emotional architecture was exceptional. He thought the world-building was underdeveloped. We were both reading the same book and experiencing something different enough that we had to negotiate what we meant by good.
