11.09.2025Sintra. Early train from Rossio, Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, steep paths through the fog. Back in Lisbon by evening with sore legs and no regrets.

12.09.2025Belém. Tower, then Jerónimos Monastery, then LX Factory for a slow lunch. Sunset drinks at Miradouro da Graça with the whole city laid out below.

Day by Day

Day 1: Land Lisbon, check in Mouraria, walk to Alfama, dinner at tasca

Day 2: Early train to Sintra, Pena Palace, Moorish Castle, back by evening

Day 3: Belém Tower, Jerónimos Monastery, LX Factory lunch, sunset drinks

Day 4: Mouraria market, Time Out lunch, Bairro Alto for the night

Day 5: Coffee at Nicolau, taxi to airport

Get the Viva Viagem card on arrival. It covers all metro and tram.

Book Pena Palace tickets 2 to 3 weeks ahead or you will not get in.

Cash only at most tascas in Alfama. Bring small notes.

Tram 28 is a tourist trap. Take the metro.

Best pastéis de nata: Pastéis de Belém is the original. The queue moves fast.
